El-Fashir: The Humanitarian Aid Commissioner of North Darfur, Dr. Abbas Youssef Adam, has convened a crucial coordination meeting with key health and sanitation officials to address the urgent needs of newly displaced persons (IDPs) in the region. Attendees included Dr. Ibrahim Abdullah Khatir, Director General of the State Ministry of Health, and directors from the Water Project, Environmental Sanitation, and Urban Water in El-Fashir.
According to Sudan News Agency, the discussions focused on the plight of those displaced by recent attacks from the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia on villages in rural El-Fashir and the Zamzam IDP camp. The meeting aimed to strategize on providing immediate humanitarian aid to these affected populations.
Dr. Abbas Youssef Adam highlighted the necessity of coordinating with organizations involved in water, health, and protection to secure essential supplies and services. He also announced that initiatives are underway to establish communal kitchens for preparing meals for the IDPs, ensuring they receive adequate nutrition during this critical time.
To operationalize these plans, a sub-committee led by Engineer Abdel-Shafi Abdullah Adam, Director of the Water and Environmental Sanitation Project, has been formed. This committee is tasked with implementing emergency plans and turning directives into actionable aid efforts on the ground.
