Khartoum: The Minister of Animal Resources and Fisheries, Professor Ahmed Al-Tijani Al-Mansouri, emphasized the significance of the poultry sector in promoting food security and generating employment opportunities for young people and other groups.
According to Sudan News Agency, during a meeting with a delegation from the Poultry Chamber led by Deputy Chairman Tahir Mohamed Tahir, the Minister called for enhanced collaboration between the public and private sectors. He proposed a coordinated action plan to boost production and productivity in the poultry industry.
The Minister also recommended reducing the broiler production cycle from 32 days to 28 days to improve quality and profitability. He assured that feed shortages would be tackled by establishing a dedicated financing portfolio in partnership with the Agricultural Bank of Sudan and the Ministry of Trade and Industry. Additionally, a workshop involving all relevant stakeholders is planned to further support sector development.
Dr. Zuhair Abdel Rahman, the Chamber's Treasurer, praised the Ministry's efforts to assist the poultry sector. He highlighted several challenges, such as securing adequate feed and concentrates and regulating illegal market inputs. He noted that the sector continues to navigate complex conditions to maintain production, ensure food security, and bolster the national economy.
