Port Sudan:The King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Aid continues to expand its relief and humanitarian efforts in Sudan, focusing on aiding the most vulnerable, displaced persons, and those returning to their homes to alleviate suffering and improve living conditions amid the ongoing crisis.
According to Sudan News Agency, Shalhoub bin Abdullah Al-Shalhoub, the Director of Public Relations and Media at the King Salman Center, reported that the center executed a series of relief interventions and volunteer projects during the first week of September 2026. These initiatives reached over 30,000 individuals across various Sudanese states and localities.
As part of the Sudan Food Security Support Project for 2026, the center distributed 5,076 food baskets to 28,737 individuals. This included 1,500 baskets in West Kordofan State's Al-Nuhud and Al-Fula localities and North Kordofan's Sheikan locality, benefiting 7,216 people, and another 1,500 baskets in Sheikan locality, aiding 7,426 people. Additionally, 1,050 baskets were distributed at the Al-Daraja Center in Sheikan locality, supporting 7,110 displaced persons and returnees, and 1,026 baskets were given out at the Sheikan Center, benefiting 6,985 individuals.
In the health sector, six medical and volunteer projects were conducted in Port Sudan, involving 29 volunteers from diverse specialties in cooperation with the Enaya Health Association. These projects included 92 successful orthopedic surgeries, split between 48 adults and 44 children. Furthermore, 1,365 patients received medical examinations, while 241 residents and patients participated in training and educational programs. Additionally, 39 local medical personnel were trained to enhance health service efficiency in the region.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has historically supported Sudan with 367 projects amounting to over 3.2 billion US dollars, with the King Salman Relief Center responsible for 284 of these projects, costing 196.6 million US dollars. These included 172 voluntary health programs, 32 food security projects, 11 shelter initiatives, and 11 water and environmental sanitation projects.
These efforts underscore Saudi Arabia's commitment to supporting the Sudanese people and vital sectors to alleviate the suffering of those in need.
