Khartoum: Member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), Lt. Gen. Engineer Ibrahim Jaber, chaired the second meeting of the Higher Committee for Oversight of Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter-Terrorism Financing (CTF) at his office in Khartoum. The meeting saw full attendance from all committee members.
According to Sudan News Agency, the meeting reviewed previous deliberations, specific assignments, and the work and reports from various committees. Reports from relevant authorities on money laundering and the implementation of measures to combat terrorism and its financing were also presented.
In a press statement, Foreign Ministry representative Ambassador Jaafar Soumi highlighted that the meeting evaluated Sudan's compliance with targeted financial sanctions, especially concerning money laundering and terrorist financing. He emphasized Sudan's commitment to cooperating with United Nations Security Council resolutions and the international community's efforts against these issues.
Ambassador Soumi further noted the profound impact on the Sudanese people during the war due to violations, property looting, resource smuggling, and inflation linked to money laundering, terrorist financing, and smuggling.
