Gezira University, GIAD Sign Partnership to Link Education with Industry

Khartoum: Gezira University and GIAD Group on Monday signed a memorandum of understanding to establish a strategic partnership in education, training, scientific research, industry, and investment, aimed at aligning university graduates' skills with labor-market needs and supporting innovation and development.

According to Sudan News Agency, the agreement focuses on training and qualifying students and graduates, upgrading workshops, facilities, and laboratories, and implementing applied research and joint projects. It also includes plans to study the establishment of a GIAD products exhibition and a specialized center for the maintenance of vehicles, machinery, and equipment on the university campus.

Gezira University Vice Chancellor Professor Salah-Eddin Mohamed Al-Arabi stated that the partnership would strengthen integration among institutions in the state, adding that GIAD's return and resumption of operations could help drive economic recovery with benefits extending across Sudan.

GIAD Group Chief Executive Officer Engineer Abdullah Abdel-Maarouf expressed the group's commitment to turning areas of cooperation into practical programs serving students and national industry.

The two sides agreed to form a joint higher committee to develop implementation plans and oversee joint projects. The university delegation also visited several GIAD companies to review reconstruction efforts and plans to resume production.
