Khartoum: Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ambassador Mohi-Eddin Salim, received Mr. Pekka Haavisto, the Personal Envoy of the United Nations Secretary-General to Sudan, during his inaugural visit to the country following his appointment. Haavisto succeeds Ramtane Lamamra in this role. According to Sudan News Agency, the Minister expressed gratitude on behalf of the Government and people of Sudan for the UN Secretary-General's involvement in Sudanese affairs. He acknowledged the Secretary-General's ongoing efforts to formulate appropriate solutions to the ongoing conflict within the country. The Minister further extended his best wishes to Haavisto, emphasizing the Sudanese Government's commitment to cooperate fully and provide the necessary support for Haavisto to carry out his mandate effectively.
