Khartoum: The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ambassador Mohi-Eddin Salem, engaged in a significant meeting with Siddhartha Surya De Boro, the President of the Human Rights Council. This meeting in Geneva was part of a series of discussions with senior United Nations officials and international organizations.
According to Sudan News Agency, during the discussion, Ambassador Salem elaborated on Sudan's roadmap for managing the transitional period, emphasizing the country's peace initiative. He highlighted the elements of the initiative centered around the protection and promotion of human rights, as well as the commitments Sudan has made in these areas.
Ambassador Salem also discussed efforts aimed at the reconstruction and rehabilitation of infrastructure, which are crucial for facilitating the return of millions of refugees and internally displaced persons (IDPs). He called upon the international community to extend its support to Sudan in these endeavors.
The Foreign Minister reassured the President of the Human Rights Council about Sudan's ongoing dedication to cooperation, coordination, and constructive engagement with human rights mechanisms in the country. This includes collaboration with the Human Rights Council, the country office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, and the appointed expert on Sudan's human rights situation.
Siddhartha Surya De Boro, for his part, expressed his support for Sudan's efforts, emphasizing the importance of the country's unity and stability. He praised the Sudanese government's collaboration with human rights mechanisms, acknowledging the positive steps taken in conjunction with the country office and the appointed expert.
