Khartoum: Minister of Finance Dr. Gebreil Ibrahim met with a delegation from the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) mission, led by Head of Mission Lorenzo Caraffi, to discuss recent developments and the humanitarian situation in Sudan. The meeting is part of a series of joint efforts to address the challenges faced by the country.

According to Sudan News Agency, the discussions highlighted the extensive activities undertaken by the ICRC to aid those affected by the conflict initiated by the rebel Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia. The ICRC's efforts include providing medical care, establishing field hospitals, supporting health facilities, and improving water infrastructure by drilling wells and rehabilitating existing systems.

Dr. Gebreil Ibrahim expressed appreciation for the ICRC's ongoing field efforts, particularly in regions like Blue Nile State, Atbara, and El-Obeid, as well as in newly liberated areas. The meeting focused on enhancing mechanisms for joint humanitarian initiatives to deliver urgent assistance to affected communities, notably in the Kordofan and Darfur regions and in displacement camps.

Lorenzo Caraffi emphasized that the meeting aimed to build trust and mutual understanding with Sudanese authorities. This partnership is crucial to ensuring that the ICRC can provide the highest level of humanitarian assistance and services to war victims across the country.
