Energy Minister Commits to Enhancing Power Supply at University of Khartoum

Khartoum: Energy Minister Al-Mutasim Ibrahim Ahmed engaged in discussions with the University of Khartoum's Vice-Chancellor, Professor Imadeldin Elamin Eltahir Aradaib, alongside Deputy Vice-Chancellor Dr. Mahmoud Ali Ahmed, focusing on the university's critical power supply needs.

According to Sudan News Agency, the meeting centered around the university's strategic plans to resume operations amidst challenges in rehabilitating its infrastructure, restoring essential services, and reconnecting its electricity supply. Key issues discussed included the provision of transformers and the rehabilitation of the existing power network, which are vital for the university to overcome its current infrastructural constraints.

The university is actively working to restart academic activities within central Khartoum, despite the lingering infrastructure issues. This initiative is part of a broader effort to restore academic life in the region, reflecting the institution's commitment to overcoming operational hurdles.

In response to these challenges, the minister has directed the electricity distribution company to ensure that transformers are provided to both the university's main campus and the Shambat complex. This directive aims to facilitate the university's efforts in resuming its educational and research activities, thereby contributing to the academic and developmental growth of Khartoum.
