Emergency Operations Center: Rise in Dengue and Measles Cases, Decline in Malaria Over One Week

Khartoum: The Federal Emergency Operations Center revealed, during its regular meeting at the Ministry of Health in Khartoum, that 662 cases of Dengue Fever were recorded across several states, including Khartoum, River Nile, Al-Gezira, Northern State, White Nile, Al-Gadarif, and Kassala.

According to Sudan News Agency, the report also recorded 48 cases of Hepatitis in Al-Gezira, Al-Gadarif, and White Nile states, in addition to 103 cases of Measles in White Nile, North Kordofan, West Kordofan, and Northern State. Meanwhile, malaria infection rates declined compared to the previous week across 13 states.

The Center indicated that health interventions remain ongoing across various directorates, alongside intensified health promotion efforts and community mobilization. These include home visits and awareness campaigns in several states, as well as the launch of broader disease prevention and control initiatives.

On the supply front, the report pointed to disparities in the availability of epidemic-related medicines and supplies, particularly those for dengue fever, while malaria medications were reported to be in low supply in the warehouses of the National Medical Supplies Fund in the states.

In a related development, the quarantine report confirmed the continuation of health screening procedures for incoming and returning travellers, as well as sustained vector control measures, international vaccination activities, and food safety monitoring.
