Khartoum: Director General of the Sea Ports Corporation (SPC), Engineer Gailani Mohamed Gailani, launched on Sunday in Port Sudan the activities of a specialized training program on Marine Arbitration and Dispute Resolution. The program is organized by the SPC through the Regional Center for Training and Consultation, in cooperation with the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT) and the University of South-Eastern Norway.
According to Sudan News Agency, the five-day program features the participation of several specialists, technical, and legal cadres working in Red Sea ports. It aims to qualify personnel in maritime arbitration and dispute resolution mechanisms to keep pace with developments in the maritime transport sector.
The launch was attended by the Director of the Regional Center for Training and Consultation, Ahmed Mahjoub, and the Director of the General Directorate of Training, Engineer Rashid Abdel Rahman, alongside several directorate directors and legal personnel from the Corporation.
In his address, the Director General emphasized that the program aligns with the Corporation's strategic plan to build human capacity and elevate the operational readiness of port personnel. He underscored the critical role of maritime arbitration as an effective mechanism for resolving disputes and streamlining port operations. Furthermore, he commended the strategic partnership with the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport and the University of South-Eastern Norway, acknowledging the instrumental role played by the Regional Center for Training and Consultation in delivering specialized programs that advance institutional capacity building.
For his part, the Director of the Regional Center explained that the program covers practical modules on maritime arbitration procedures, international laws regulating maritime transport, and practical case studies, delivered by specialized experts via video conferencing technology.
