Sudan: Attorney-General and Chairperson of the National Committee of Inquiry into Crimes and Violations of National Law and International Humanitarian Law, Intisar Ahmed Abdel-Aal, held an extensive meeting with UN Deputy High Commissioner for Human Rights Awa Dabo and her senior aides: The Attorney-General gave a detailed presentation on the contents of the National Committee's fifth interim report and its work in monitoring, receiving complaints, and investigating various forms of crimes and violations. In this context, she addressed the terrorist attack carried out by the militia on Wednesday against the Civil Courts Complex in Om Rawaba, as well as its treacherous terrorist attack on Karari Locality in Omdurman using strategic drones. The two attacks resulted in a number of innocent civilians being killed and others injured.
According to Sudan News Agency, she also reviewed the requirements for the success of the Sudanese-Sudanese dialogue announced by the President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), as well as assurances regarding the necessary guarantees and immunities to ensure participants' freedom and prevent interference in or influence over the dialogue's outcomes.
For her part, the Deputy High Commissioner expressed appreciation for the cooperation between the government, the UN Human Rights Country Office, and the designated expert on the human rights situation in Sudan. She affirmed that they were following the efforts of the National Committee of Inquiry and the reports it had submitted to the Human Rights Council, stressing the importance of delivering justice, ensuring redress for victims, and preventing impunity.
