Geneva: Attorney General Intisar Ahmed Abdel-Aal, Chairperson of the National Committee for Investigating Crimes and Violations of National Law and International Humanitarian Law, has concluded her visit to Geneva after leading Sudan's delegation to the 63rd session of the Human Rights Council. During the session, she presented the committee's fifth interim report on its activities.
According to Sudan News Agency, Abdel-Aal also delivered a supplementary briefing focusing on the committee's monitoring and documentation efforts concerning militia drone attacks on civilian facilities over recent months. These attacks have been identified as acts of terrorism, war crimes, and serious violations of international humanitarian law, targeting infrastructure such as hospitals, power-generation stations, water-supply facilities, and schools in El-Obeid and surrounding areas, aiming to instill fear in civilians and force them to flee.
During her visit, the chairperson engaged in bilateral meetings with relevant authorities to discuss the interim report's content, emphasizing the committee's independence, competence, and dedication to delivering justice, ensuring redress for victims, and preventing impunity.
Sudan's Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva, Ambassador Hassan Hamed, along with members of the mission, bid farewell to Abdel-Aal at Geneva Airport.
