Khartoum: The annual coordination meeting of directors general of livestock resources in Sudan's states concluded Thursday at the premises of the Ministry of Animal Resources under the theme 'Together Towards Healthy, Productive and Sustainable Animal Resources.'
According to Sudan News Agency, the meeting focused on developing the livestock sector, strengthening federal-state coordination, and addressing challenges facing veterinary services and production areas. The final recommendations included activating the one-stop platform in the states, equipping veterinary hospitals with diagnostic units, providing transport for remote areas, enforcing the Livestock Routes Act, and holding regular federal-state conferences.
Participants also called for advanced domestic and overseas training, stronger coordination in border areas, and a new livestock census to provide data for planning and decision-making.
Minister of Animal Resources and Fisheries Ahmed Al-Tijani Al-Mansouri praised the meeting as an important step toward preserving and developing Sudan's national livestock herd. He pledged continued support to the states to overcome sector challenges, increase production and productivity, and ensure optimal use of livestock resources.
The Blue Nile Region was selected to host the next coordination meeting, which will follow up on the implementation of the recommendations and outcomes.
