Khartoum: Minister of Animal Resources and Fisheries Professor Ahmed Al-Tijani Al-Mansouri on Thursday discussed the challenges facing the livestock sector in South Kordofan State during a meeting with a delegation from the state headed by Wali Lt. Gen. (Police) Mohamed Abdel-Rahim Kafi.
According to Sudan News Agency, the delegation outlined the state's most urgent needs, including the provision of vaccines and veterinary medicines, the development of integrated veterinary services, opening firebreaks in grazing areas, establishing fully equipped mobile veterinary units, and training technical and veterinary personnel both domestically and abroad. The delegation also emphasized the importance of strengthening veterinary extension services and transferring the experience of post-war veterinary residency programs.
Al-Mansouri stressed the need for closer coordination and cooperation between the federal government and the state to develop the livestock sector. He affirmed his ministry's commitment to addressing all the state's needs, in coordination with the relevant authorities, during the coming period.
Wali Lt. Gen. (Police) Mohamed Abdel-Rahim Kafi highlighted the scale of destruction caused by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia to the state's infrastructure and essential services, stressing that South Kordofan requires support from the federal government to enable it to fulfill its responsibilities. He added that South Kordofan ranks third nationwide in terms of agricultural and livestock resources, noting that the state government is working to serve the interests of citizens and the nation.
'We look forward to greater cooperation and coordination with the federal government to achieve our desired objectives and develop the sector,' he said.
