6.2-Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Southern Italy

Messina: An earthquake measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale struck southern Italy. The seismic event was recorded 124 kilometers north of the city of Messina, occurring at a significant depth of 240 kilometers beneath the Earth's surface.

According to Qatar News Agency, despite the magnitude of the earthquake, no casualties or damage have been reported at this time. The seismic activity has, however, raised concerns due to Italy's history of devastating earthquakes. In August 2016, an earthquake in Amatrice and the surrounding area in central Italy led to the tragic loss of 299 lives.
