Khartoum: The President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, convened a meeting at his office in the Republican Palace with a delegation from the African Union Peace and Security Council. The meeting was also attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ambassador Mohi-Eddin Salem.According to Sudan News Agency, Ambassador Mohamed Khalid, Algeria's Permanent Representative to the African Union and Chairperson of the Council for August, led the delegation. He described the discussions as fruitful, focusing on various issues concerning peace, security, and stability in Sudan. He commended the TSC President for his dedication to these issues.The head of the delegation emphasized the African Peace and Security Council's steadfast commitment to respecting Sudan's sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national unity. He highlighted the Council's support for the aspirations of the Sudanese people to achieve peace, security, stability, development, and democratic governance.Ambassador Khalid noted that the meeting addressed the ongoing situation in Sudan, expressing concern over the persistent conflict, loss of life, and humanitarian crisis. He stressed that dialogue, national reconciliation, and a comprehensive political settlement are essential to achieving lasting peace.The delegation welcomed initiatives to restore government functions in Khartoum, viewing this as crucial for reestablishing state institutions, providing services, and advancing democratic transition. Ambassador Khalid urged the government and political forces to enhance inclusivity in the transitional process, aiming for national consensus and a constitutional system through free and fair elections.He reaffirmed the African Union's pivotal role in Sudan's peace process, acknowledging the efforts of the Quintet under the Union's leadership. The delegation condemned external interference in Sudan's affairs, rejecting any attempt s to establish parallel entities that threaten Sudan's unity and sovereignty.Ambassador Khalid also welcomed the reopening of the African Union Liaison Office in Khartoum, expressing hope for strengthening the Union's role in supporting Sudan's active participation in the African Union.
