Khartoum: President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) and Commander-in-Chief of the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF), General Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan, attended a ceremony organized by the Sudan Council of Churches at the Khartoum International Fairgrounds. The event was held under the theme, 'Come with One Heart. Together We Pray for Sudan,' with the presence of his deputy, Malik Agar, and wide participation from church leaders and representatives of Christian denominations and churches in Sudan.
According to Sudan News Agency, the TSC President addressed the event, emphasizing that all revealed religions advocate for love, peace, and brotherhood while rejecting division and fragmentation. He highlighted the importance of cooperation, solidarity, and resisting those who promote hatred and animosity among the Sudanese people.
He affirmed that the ceremony represented Sudan as one country and one people unified behind one army, expressing hope for security, stability, and peace throughout the nation. He also noted the significance of praying for peace as a means to foster love and reassurance, and commended clergy from all denominations for their heartfelt prayers for Sudan's protection.
TSC Vice-President Malik Agar highlighted the event's role in promoting national unity, noting the involvement of various Christian denominations in the prayer organization. He reiterated that peace is a fundamental human and religious value shared by all faiths.
The President of the Sudan Council of Churches called for a moment of silence to honor those who lost their lives, acknowledging the sacrifices that enabled the Sudanese to gather in Khartoum. He expressed gratitude to the Sudanese government and the TSC President for their efforts in restoring security and stability, and urged those abroad to return to Sudan and reject division.
The event featured prayers for peace, security, and stability in Sudan, an end to the people's suffering, and the country's recovery from war.
