The Asia Triathlon’s training camp commenced in Aqaba’s Ayla Oasis, where more than 20 athletes from countries including Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Uzbekistan, and Iran will participate in the four-day camp under the International Triathlon Union’s supervision.
This camp, held in preparation for the Ayla Triathlon Championship 2024 scheduled for next Friday, aims to enhance athletes’ and coaches’ skills in the sport.
Firas Hamoud, the Director of Development at the International Triathlon Union, explained that the camp focuses on honing technical skills across the triathlon disciplines of running, swimming, and cycling. He noted that Jordanian athletes, in particular, benefit from interaction with international players, enhancing their technical abilities in line with the Federation’s broader strategy to promote the sport globally.
Ammar Satri, Secretary of the Triathlon Association, highlighted the camp’s success for Jordanian players, due in part to the Triathlon Association’s support and resources provided
to elevate participants’ skill levels. He expressed optimism that the camp’s impact will benefit the Jordanian national team in upcoming domestic and international competitions.
Mansour Kabariti, Public Relations Manager at Ayla Oasis Development Company, remarked, “Ayla is proud to collaborate with various national sectors and institutions, particularly in the sports domain. This year’s championship, which returns with a renewed format and broad participation, is set to achieve remarkable success and high standards of professionalism.”
He added, “Ayla is committed to strengthening Aqaba’s and Jordan’s standing as destinations for major sports, tourism, and entertainment events. By leveraging our world-class infrastructure and amenities, Ayla aims to support sports and tourism institutions in hosting significant events, boosting tourism, and showcasing Aqaba’s unique advantages and Jordan’s national tourism offerings.”
