Riyadh: Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani hailed Syria’s acknowledgment of the Republic of Kosovo as a sovereign and independent state as a “historic event,” expressing her profound gratitude to President Ahmad al-Sharaa for taking this significant step.
According to Syrian Arab News Agency, President Osmani shared on her Facebook page that an agreement was finalized in Riyadh, facilitated by the support of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, wherein the Syrian Arab Republic officially recognized the Republic of Kosovo.
Osmani elaborated on the shared struggles of the peoples of Kosovo and Syria, both of whom have endured significant hardships in their quest for freedom. She emphasized that this mutual recognition is not merely about state sovereignty but also an homage to the sacrifices made by generations striving for autonomy.
The recognition by President Ahmad Al-Sharaa represents the third such acknowledgment of Kosovo’s independence in the current year, following similar recognitions by Kenya in March and Sudan in April. Osmani highlighted that with this recent announcement, the tally of nations recognizing Kosovo’s independence has now reached 120, underscoring a forward momentum for the republic that she believes is unstoppable.
She also extended her gratitude to the Saudi Crown Prince for playing a crucial role in facilitating this landmark achievement, which strengthens the diplomatic bonds between the two nations.
