Syria and Spain Collaborate on First Submarine Cable Installation

Tartous: Syrian Telecommunications Company and the Spanish company Medusa have signed an agreement in Tartous to install the first submarine cable linking Syria to the global telecommunications network. This significant development marks a milestone in enhancing Syria’s connectivity to the international digital infrastructure.

According to Syrian Arab News Agency, the agreement signing ceremony was attended by Minister of Communications and Information Technology Abdul Salam Haykal. The minister’s presence underscores the importance of the project to Syria’s telecommunications strategy and its efforts to modernize and expand its digital infrastructure.

Further actions include Minister Haykal’s inspection of the submarine cable landing site in the Dream Beach area of Tartous. This inspection signals the commencement of the project’s implementation phase, as the groundwork is laid for integrating Syria into the broader global telecommunications network.
