Sudan’s UN Mission Challenges UAE Accusations Regarding Ambassador’s Residence Bombing.

New York: The Permanent Mission of Sudan to the United Nations in New York has challenged claims made by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) regime, which alleged that the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) bombed the UAE ambassador’s residence in Khartoum. The mission addressed these allegations in a letter to the Security Council, dated November 8, 2024, refuting the accusations as false.

According to Sudan News Agency, the Sudanese mission provided evidence to counter the UAE’s claims. Ambassador Al-Harith Idris, Sudan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, sent a letter to the President of the Security Council detailing that high-resolution satellite images showed the UAE ambassador’s residence remained untouched. The images depicted the residence with all its contents, including nine cars and furniture, intact, and the garden well-maintained throughout the conflict.

The letter highlighted a stark contrast between the UAE ambassador’s residence and other diplomatic locations in Khartoum, which were repor
tedly attacked and looted by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militias. The Sudanese mission accused the RSF, labeled as a rebel terrorist group, of controlling the area around the UAE ambassador’s residence since their conflict with Sudan began in April 2023.

Since April 17, 2023, the letter claimed, the UAE ambassador’s residence had been used as a base by the RSF militia for military vehicles, artillery, and jamming devices. The Sudanese Permanent Mission documented the movements and presence of these military assets, providing detailed accounts and satellite imagery as evidence.

Furthermore, the letter included information about a recording featuring the militia commander and members, allegedly filmed in front of the UAE ambassador’s house. This was supported by 40 photographs attached to the letter, showcasing the current state of the ambassador’s residence and comparing it with the damaged properties of other ambassadors in Khartoum.

In conclusion, the Sudanese mission’s letter argued that the conditio
n of the UAE ambassador’s residence and the involvement of the RSF militia indicate the UAE regime’s complicity in the ongoing conflict in Sudan.
