Khartoum:Sudan's Finance Minister, Dr. Gebreil Ibrahim, has outlined a roadmap for the recovery of the private sector, emphasizing its role in overcoming the economic challenges posed by the war. He highlighted the nation's significant resources and capabilities during the conclusion of the High-Level Dialogue on the Recovery of Sudan's Private Sector.According to Sudan News Agency, Dr. Gebreil stated that the event held at Al-Salam Hotel in Khartoum included serious discussions on the private sector's future and its contribution to economic recovery and development. Topics addressed included strengthening food systems, restoring agriculture, industry, and trade sectors, enhancing financing for small and medium-sized enterprises, and improving the business environment.The Finance Minister explained that the newly announced roadmap aims to shift from dialogue to actionable policies and programs. He affirmed the Ministry of Finance's commitment to coordinate with other ministries, government institutions, t he private sector, and development partners to implement the roadmap and achieve tangible outcomes.He further called on regional and international financial institutions to support Sudan's private sector by providing access to financing facilities and technical programs. The Minister emphasized the need for a transition from humanitarian response to resilience, recovery, production, and investment, aiming for a more diversified and competitive economy.Dr. Ibrahim reiterated the ministry's dedication to financial and economic reforms to enhance economic stability and improve public resource management. He stressed addressing constraints in energy, infrastructure, legislation, and procedures to reduce business costs and expand investment opportunities.Moreover, he pointed out Sudan's economic assets, including agricultural land, livestock, and natural resources, and the challenge of transforming these into economic value. The ambition is to build a more productive and competitive economy capable of creati ng jobs and attracting investment beyond pre-war conditions.
