Khartoum: Sudan's Ambassador to the Russian Federation, Mohamed Al-Ghazali Siraj, met with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Georgy Borisenko to discuss significant political and security developments in Sudan. The meeting focused on the steps taken by Sudanese state institutions to restore normalcy in the country, including the resumption of duties by institutions in Khartoum. The discussions also covered the ongoing preparations for the national dialogue in Sudan.
According to Sudan News Agency, Ambassador Siraj provided insights into the progress of the Sudanese Armed Forces and the logistical support received by militias through neighboring countries. There was also a discussion on cooperation and coordination in international forums, emphasizing Sudan's agenda in the UN Security Council. The ambassador expressed gratitude for Russia's supportive stance, particularly its opposition to equating the Sudanese Armed Forces with the rebel Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia.
The meeting also touched upon the upcoming Russia-Africa Summit scheduled for October, with Ambassador Mohamed Al-Ghazali highlighting Sudan's plans to participate through a delegation led by the President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC). Deputy Minister Borisenko showed keen interest in Sudan's political developments and endorsed the national dialogue initiative as a vital step for stability. He expressed anticipation for President Al-Burhan's active participation in the summit.
