Prime Minister Evaluates Committees’ Efforts on Illegal Fees and Vehicle Inventory

Khartoum: The Prime Minister, Dr. Kamil Idris, was briefed on the performance of the Committee on Combating Illegal Fee Collection, as well as its field visits to the eastern, northern, Al-Gezira, and Sennar states, and the Blue Nile region. This came during his meeting in Khartoum on Wednesday evening with the Minister of Justice, Dr. Abdullah Mohamed Dirif, who stated in a press briefing that he presented a report on illegal collection points that were dismantled during the committee's field tours, as well as the legal measures taken against violators. He also outlined the subcommittees formed in the states to follow up on the enforcement of decisions related to illegal fee collection, in addition to the formation of a special committee to review state-level legislation on service fees and its compliance with the law.

According to Sudan News Agency, the Minister of Justice affirmed that the committee will continue its work to combat the phenomenon of illegal fee collection and remove violations. In a related development, the Minister of Justice noted that he briefed the Prime Minister on the findings of the technical committee tasked with inventorying vehicles at assembly points, indicating that more than 11,000 vehicles have been recorded, as a prelude to publishing their details and ownership data as registered with the Traffic Police, enabling owners to identify and reclaim them.

He added that the technical committee will continue its work until it completes all procedures related to the inventory of vehicles at assembly points, after which the data will be cross-checked with Traffic Police records to verify the latest registered ownership, followed by publication and handover to rightful owners in accordance with the committee's procedures.
