Khartoum: Adviser to the Prime Minister, Muslih Nassar, described the draft resolution presented by adviser to the U.S. President for Arab and African Affairs, Massad Boulos, to the UN Security Council calling for an arms embargo on Sudan as the latest in a series of external attempts to undermine Sudanese sovereignty.
According to Sudan News Agency, Nassar said Sudan would not compromise on its national cause of ending the rebellion of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia, regardless of the pressure exerted, describing the matter as an existential issue concerning the survival of the Sudanese state.
He said the international community was ignoring the support and weapons the militia receives from known countries, adding that the draft resolution should instead have condemned the countries supporting the militia and the parties working to divide the country, rather than punishing a state defending its sovereignty.
Nassar added that the draft resolution represented a failed attempt to enable the externally supported militia to continue destroying the country.
He said that all components of the country had made their decision to move forward towards achieving the objectives of the Battle of Dignity, namely eliminating the militia and preventing it from exercising any political, economic or military dominance in the future of the state.
