Musa Hilal Meets UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy to Sudan

Khartoum: The Chairman of the Sudanese Revolutionary Awakening Council, Sheikh Musa Hilal, met with UN Secretary-General's Special Envoy to Sudan Pekka Haavisto to discuss ways to achieve sustainable peace and stability in Sudan.

According to Sudan News Agency, the meeting, held at Hilal's residence in Khartoum, addressed the role of the Quintet mechanism in the Sudan crisis and ways to support efforts toward peace and stability while preserving Sudan's unity, sovereignty, and national interests.

Hilal stressed that resolving the crisis requires serious and inclusive dialogue involving all segments of Sudanese society without exclusion or marginalization, leading to a national consensus that puts Sudan and its people's interests above all else. He also emphasized that solutions to the crisis should be driven by genuine Sudanese will, with the international and regional communities playing a facilitating role in creating an environment conducive to bringing the parties together and achieving a just and lasting peace.

The meeting was part of a series of consultations held by the Quintet delegation and the UN envoy with Sudanese executive, political, and community leaders to explore sustainable Sudanese solutions that can pave the way for peace and strengthen stability in the country.
