Khartoum: The committee formed by a decision of the Prime Minister to review the status of Nile Poultry Company has affirmed the need to maintain the company's operations across all its branches and integrated units, preserve its institutional unity, and strengthen its role in supporting livestock production and food security, while continuing its contributions to social services.
According to Sudan News Agency, this was highlighted during the committee's final meeting, held in Khartoum on Sunday under the chairmanship of Minister of Federal Governance and Rural Development Engineer Mohamed Kortikela Saleh. The meeting included participation from Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation Professor Issmat Gurashi, Minister of Animal Resources and Fisheries Professor Ahmed Al-Tijani, Wali of River Nile State Dr. Mohamed Al-Badawi, Wali of Northern State Lieutenant General Abdelrahman Abdelhamid, the Undersecretary for Rural Development, and the Director-General of Nile Poultry Company.
The meeting focused on discussing the company's capabilities and strategies to preserve its existing assets and develop its production capacity. This would enable the company to continue its role in the production and services sectors, bolster its contribution to the national economy, and support food security.
Participants stressed the importance of sustaining Nile Poultry Company across all its branches and units and implementing its current operational plans. They emphasized providing the necessary support to ensure sustainable production, improving operational efficiency, and enhancing performance, particularly in the River Nile and Northern states.
The meeting concluded with several recommendations, primarily to maintain the company and preserve its institutional unity, while working to develop its structures and management mechanisms in alignment with its production and development goals.
The committee also recommended forming a new board of directors chaired by the Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation. Membership would include representatives from the Ministries of Finance, Agriculture and Irrigation, and Animal Resources and Fisheries, along with representatives of the governments of River Nile and Northern states. The Director of the Agricultural Development Authority would serve as a member and rapporteur to strengthen coordination among relevant authorities and support the company's ongoing development.
The recommendations further included continuing the implementation of the company's existing operational plans and providing necessary production requirements and inputs to improve operational efficiency, increase output, and enhance the company's ability to supply poultry products and support the food security system.
The committee affirmed that the Nile Poultry Company is one of the successful government experiences in the production sector. It underscored the need to preserve its achievements, develop its capabilities, and optimize its resources to make a greater contribution to developing the poultry sector and supporting domestic production.
The meeting highlighted the importance of directing the company's resources toward expanding production, improving efficiency, and making optimal use of its various assets and units. Strengthening cooperation and coordination between the federal government and the states was also emphasized to ensure continuity of production and maximize the benefits of the company's resources.
