MFA Undersecretary Engages with UN Assistant Secretary-General on Sudan’s Development

Khartoum: The Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Hussein Al-Amin Al-Fadil, met with the Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations, Mr. Abdullah Al-Dardari, who also serves as the Assistant Administrator and Director of the Regional Bureau for Arab States at the United Nations Development Program.

According to Sudan News Agency, the Undersecretary welcomed the UN official’s visit, expressing gratitude for the ongoing cooperation between Sudan and the United Nations. He provided updates on Sudan’s political landscape and highlighted the advancements made by the armed forces. The Ambassador also detailed the violations and massacres perpetrated by the rebel Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia.

Ambassador Al-Fadil urged the UN Assistant Secretary-General to assist in rebuilding the infrastructure damaged by the RSF militia. He emphasized the importance of supporting the upcoming agricultural season to ensure food security and proposed establishing a joint mechanism between Sudan and the United Nations Development Program.

Mr. Al-Dardari expressed optimism about expanding development initiatives and strengthening institutional capacities. He conveyed the UN’s commitment to recovery programs and repairing war damages in alignment with Sudan’s national priorities.
