Khartoum: Minister of Animal Resources Professor Ahmed Al-Tijani Al-Mansouri held a meeting with officials of Nile Valley University on Monday during his visit to the university to strengthen comprehensive cooperation and the existing partnership between the ministry and the university.
According to Sudan News Agency, the meeting agreed to prepare an integrated feasibility study for establishing a productive handicraft association aimed at improving living conditions and increasing the income of university professors and employees, numbering about 1,300 staff and contributors, thereby enabling academic staff to devote themselves fully to teaching, scientific research, and community service.
For his part, Vice-Chancellor of Nile Valley University, Professor Hassan Al-Saiem, said the university was keen to work on providing productive and development projects that would directly contribute to the stability of university employees and ease their living burdens through the cooperative association. He affirmed the university's continued efforts to establish fruitful partnerships that benefit the university family and the local community.
The minister explained that an agreement had been reached with the Agricultural Bank to finance the project, noting that a joint team from the university and the Ministry of Animal Resources had been formed to complete the feasibility study before Oct. 5, in preparation for the final signing.
Al-Mansouri also affirmed the existing partnership and cooperation between the university and the ministry on Al-Obaidiya Animal Production City project through the advisory body of Nile Valley University and with the assistance of the ministry's administrative and technical personnel. The cooperation aims to prepare the studies required to rehabilitate existing projects, establish new ones, and develop the Animal Production City on modern scientific and professional foundations.
