President of the Jordan and Amman Chambers of Industry Fathi Jaghbir said on Saturday that accurate data is necessary in studies to enhance the sector’s development and competitiveness in local and export markets.
He said during the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Amman Chamber of Industry and the Department of Statistics (DoS) that the industrial sector looks forward to enhancing cooperation with the DoS to conduct joint studies and research on the reality of the industrial sector and future trends, and cooperate in publishing industrial statistics.
“Such cooperation aims to carry out field surveys and collect key data, when needed, to assess opportunities and address challenges posed to the industrial sector, and prepare questionnaires to obtain precise data on areas agreed upon according to national priorities,” Jaghbir said in a statement.
DoS Director General Haidar Freihat said his department, the sole government agency providing various social, economic, population and agricultu
ral statistics, will provide the Amman Chamber of Industry with data and indicators of the national economy and the industrial sector.
