Intelligence Chief: Media Is a Key Partner in Addressing Sudan’s Challenges

Khartoum: Director-General of the General Intelligence Service General Ahmed Ibrahim Mufaddal praised the role played by the media in the 'War of Dignity' and its efforts to counter conspiracies targeting Sudan and its people, commending the media's performance over the past period.

According to Sudan News Agency, General Mufaddal addressed the Sudanese Journalists' Forum in Khartoum on Wednesday, where he called for media issues to be raised and discussed transparently. He emphasized that such dialogues could help guide Sudan toward a prosperous future. He urged participants to seize the opportunity to establish a robust media framework capable of adapting to the current phase.

General Mufaddal reaffirmed the General Intelligence Service's commitment to supporting dialogue with journalists at all levels, highlighting that such engagement would contribute to advancing media work. He stressed the importance of dialogue as a principle for addressing issues and challenges.

Mufaddal expressed satisfaction with media performance during the past period, noting that the agency had not resorted to the 'sword of the law' against journalists. He acknowledged that Sudan's challenges were not new and that the country was facing the worst war in its history, leading to major and multifaceted challenges.

On security matters, Mufaddal stressed the necessity of clearing every inch of national territory and highlighted the media's vital role in informing domestic and international public opinion by providing accurate information. He affirmed the agency's commitment to safeguarding society's security and well-being while addressing the challenges of mending the social fabric.

He emphasized the importance of dialogue and consultation on economic affairs and the need to work towards overcoming crises that may arise, thereby supporting economic stability.

The Director-General also highlighted the significance of engaging in substantive dialogue with neighboring countries to reach common understandings that would bolster security and stability in the region.
