Khartoum: In a significant move to stabilize bread prices and ensure affordability for citizens, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Dr. Awad Salam, engaged in discussions with flour-producing companies and mills. The meeting, held at the ministry's headquarters in Khartoum, included representatives from Khartoum State and other relevant authorities.
According to Sudan News Agency, the discussions culminated in an agreement where mills committed to supplying a 25-kilogram sack of flour at the price of SDG 87,000. This price will be maintained for flour delivered to bakeries, aiming to prevent any increase in bread prices and support the economic stability for citizens.
Additionally, the Undersecretary revealed that the Wali of Khartoum State has enacted a policy exempting all bakeries in the state from both state and local fees. This initiative is designed to ease production costs, enabling bakeries to continue providing bread at reasonable prices without compromising on quality, weight, or production continuity.
Dr. Salam emphasized the government's commitment to implementing urgent plans and solutions to secure the availability and stability of strategic commodities, which are crucial for the livelihood of the population.
