Grand Reception Marks Return of Imam Ahmed Al-Mahdi to Sudan

Port sudan: A grand reception was held at the Marina Hotel in Port Sudan to welcome Imam Ahmed Al-Mahdi, leader of the Ansar, back to the country. The event gathered leaders from various political parties and organizations, civil society activists, and local and foreign media outlets, reflecting the significance of his return.

According to Sudan News Agency, speakers at the event highlighted the potential impact of Imam Ahmed Al-Mahdi's return on the national movement's progress, especially amidst the complex circumstances facing the country. They emphasized his role in reuniting the National Umma Party, which was left fragmented following the departure of Imam Al-Sadiq Al-Mahdi.

A notable aspect of the program was the denial by Muhammad Sayed Al-Jakoumi, head of the Northern Entity, regarding his connection to an audio recording with the Minister of Minerals. He dismissed the circulating recording as artificial, sparking discussions among attendees.

Sudanese political forces formally welcomed Imam Ahmed Al-Mahdi's return, viewing it as a step toward national unity and a chance to reorganize the National Umma Party. Khalid al-Fahl, a political forces representative, remarked on the timing of Imam Al-Mahdi's return, noting the ongoing militia rebellion. He underlined the importance of unity and defense against both internal and external threats.

Al-Fahl declared that the era of stagnation has ended and urged support for the army in its battle for dignity. He stressed the need for political forces to defend the homeland through political means and emphasized the Sudanese people's role in determining the country's future, aligning with the national peace initiative led by Prime Minister Kamil Idris.

Babiker Hamdin, an advisor to the Justice and Equality Movement, echoed the sentiment, underscoring the return's implications for national unity and political strengthening. He called for collaborative efforts to support the armed forces and other security entities in defending the nation.

Mu'taz al-Fahl, political secretary of the Democratic Bloc, noted that Imam Al-Mahdi's return heralds a significant shift in the political landscape, leveraging his extensive record of patriotism. He welcomed the opportunity to draw from Imam Al-Mahdi's political experience.

Lieutenant General Abdul Rahman Al-Sadiq Al-Mahdi, Vice President of the Resolution and Contract Authority of the Ansar Affairs Authority, described the return as a positive move towards unity and peace. He criticized the international support for the 'establishment and steadfastness' alliance and highlighted the chance to mobilize political forces more effectively.

Abdul Rahman stressed the importance of rejecting violence and supporting state legitimacy, emphasizing democratic transformation and peace. He urged a focus on national interests and renouncing hate speech.

In his address, Imam Ahmed Al-Mahdi called for unity and praised the army's sacrifices. He expressed gratitude for their victories and stressed the need for continued efforts to build and unify the country. He urged the armed forces to maintain their resolve against treason and rebellion, emphasizing the rule of law and national wealth protection.
