New York:Governor of Darfur Region Minni Arko Minawi announced that he met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov during the United Nations General Assembly meetings, where they discussed various developments concerning Sudan.
According to Sudan News Agency, the discussions included political, economic, and security developments, as well as field situations in Sudan. They also talked about the U.S. decision to bar President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan from attending the General Assembly sessions.
The meeting further covered topics such as UN Security Council Resolution 1591 and the ongoing arms embargo on Darfur. Additionally, the two officials explored strategies to promote peace, stability, and the sovereignty of Sudan.
