Khartoum: The leader of the Sudanese Justice and Equality Movement (JEM) and Deputy Chairman of the Democratic Bloc, Dr. Gebreil Ibrahim, reaffirmed the bloc's commitment to comprehensive Sudanese dialogue and stressed that the political process must be Sudanese-led and Sudanese-owned in a manner that safeguards the country's sovereignty and unity and advances prospects for peace and stability.
According to Sudan News Agency, Ibrahim spoke on Saturday at a workshop of the Democratic Bloc in Khartoum, attended by representatives of its various political organizations and components. He stated that the bloc was working to develop a unified political vision for addressing the Sudanese crisis and achieving national consensus.
He emphasized the need to coordinate the positions and efforts of the bloc's components so that they can play an effective role in the political process, highlighting that resolving the crisis requires comprehensive dialogue that does not exclude active national forces.
Ibrahim also highlighted that efforts to end the crisis and restore stability must be based exclusively on Sudanese will and ownership, free from external interference that conflicts with the country's national interests.
He reiterated the Democratic Bloc's support for the Armed Forces and national state institutions in carrying out their constitutional roles in protecting Sudan's sovereignty and territorial integrity and ensuring the safety of its citizens. He emphasized that preserving state institutions is fundamental to the country's stability.
Ibrahim called for building a cohesive internal front capable of reaching a consensual roadmap for managing the transitional period and paving the way for free and fair elections that reflect the will and aspirations of the Sudanese people.
The workshop forms part of the Democratic Bloc's efforts to review and update its vision for the political process, strengthen coordination among its components, and develop an inclusive and unified political position that accommodates Sudan's diverse forces and components without excluding active national forces.
