Foreign Minister and UN Secretary-General Discuss Sudan’s Humanitarian Situation

New York:The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Mohi El-Din Salem, held discussions with United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres during the current session of the United Nations General Assembly.According to Sudan News Agency, the Minister informed the Secretary-General about the situation in Sudan and emphasized the government's commitment to working with the Secretary-General's Personal Envoy and international and regional humanitarian organizations. He assured that all necessary measures would be taken to facilitate the smooth distribution of humanitarian aid and ensure the passage of relief convoys to those in need across Sudan.In response, the Secretary-General urged for an end to hostilities and the alleviation of suffering among the Sudanese people, highlighting the importance of dialogue in resolving the ongoing conflict and establishing peace. He praised the Sudanese government's efforts in enabling the delivery of humanitarian aid to those impacted by the conflict.Additionally, the Secretary-General expressed disappointment over the host country's failure to meet its obligations under the Headquarters Agreement, which led to a delay in issuing an entry visa to the Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council for participation in the General Assembly.
