Khartoum: Minister of Animal Resources and Fisheries Professor Ahmed Al-Tijani Al-Mansouri held a meeting with the Higher Committee for Upgrading Livestock Production Cities in line with international standards, chaired by Dr. Hiba Sayed Ahmed Ali. The meeting discussed the progress of the committee's work and performance, as well as efforts to advance and develop the livestock sector and the obstacles facing the committee, with the aim of opening export markets for Sudanese meat in Saudi Arabia and the Gulf countries.
According to Sudan News Agency, the minister stressed the importance of the committee and its pivotal role in boosting exports, saying: 'We are counting heavily on this committee as the cornerstone for opening meat markets.' He added that the livestock sector represents the real way out of the current economic crisis. Professor Al-Mansouri revealed that the ministry had received major export requests from several countries, foremost among them Iraq, Kuwait and Syria, given that Sudanese meat is disease-free and sourced from natural grazing.
The minister announced that more than 14 companies from Northern State and 15 companies from River Nile State are ready for export in accordance with the required standards. Al-Mansouri pledged to resolve all difficulties facing the committee's work in coordination with the relevant authorities, paving the way for the launch of Sudanese meat exports.
For her part, Committee Chair Dr. Hiba Sayed Ahmed affirmed that the committee would make every effort to complete the tasks assigned to it and that Sudanese meat exports to foreign markets would begin soon.
