Khartoum: Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Al-Hawad Project Ministerial Committee Chairman, Professor Ahmed Mudawi Musa, emphasized the critical role of the Al-Hawad Integrated Development Project in bolstering Sudan's national economy. Describing it as a strategic initiative, Musa highlighted its potential to significantly impact the lives of citizens by driving meaningful development and achieving broad national consensus as the project moves toward implementation.
According to Sudan News Agency, Musa underscored the project's capacity to enhance food security in Sudan by boosting agricultural and livestock production. This expansion is aimed at fortifying the country's ability to tackle economic and food-related challenges. Musa's remarks came during the final meeting of the Ministerial Committee for the Al-Hawad Integrated Development Project, which included several ministers, the Wali of River Nile State, and the Governor of Al-Hawad Project.
The meeting featured a report from the Project Land Governance Committee, presented by River Nile State Wali Dr. Mohamed Al-Badawi Abdel-Majid. Attendees also received briefings on various project-related issues. Discussions centered on the next phase of work, highlighting recommendations for establishing an internationally funded consortium to form a multilateral strategic partnership, thereby securing necessary resources for the project.
The committee reaffirmed that Al-Hawad Project could become a cornerstone of the national economy, driving development and production while improving citizens' lives. The strategic importance of the project, enjoying national consensus, was emphasized, necessitating concerted efforts across official, technical, and economic domains and expanding partnerships to fulfill implementation requirements and achieve its goals.
Concluding its work, the Ministerial Committee prepared a comprehensive report detailing its activities and recommendations for Al-Hawad Project, ready for submission to the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister had previously mandated the committee's formation and called for a dedicated Cabinet session to discuss the project and consider its recommendations, setting the stage for pivotal decisions regarding its future.
