New york: Sudan's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Al-Harith Idris, emphasized that treating the conflict parties equally does not constitute justice, asserting that equating the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) with militias, mercenaries, and foreign fighters undermines justice.
According to Sudan News Agency, Ambassador Al-Harith voiced these concerns during a UN Security Council session, where he highlighted that adopting a unilateral approach to the war in Sudan and imposing it through UN sanctions without transparent and thorough discussion would deny justice. He stressed the importance of preserving multilateral diplomatic channels and warned against replacing them with unilateral policies driven by the national interests of any particular country.
Sudan's Permanent Representative to the United Nations questioned the measures the international community had taken to address what he described as acts of genocide and violations committed by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia. He queried, "What measures have been taken to deter the genocide committed by a militia backed by one of the countries closest to the penholder for the region?"
He further inquired whether an assessment had been conducted on the use of Western-origin weapons supplied to the militia, and the parties providing them. He called for an analysis of the chain of custody or transfer of ownership of any Western-origin weapons proven to have been used during the war in Sudan.
