TSC Vice-President and UN Officials Discuss Peace and Development Initiatives


Khartoum: Vice President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), Malik Agar, held a meeting on Thursday with Xu Haoliang, the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations and Associate Administrator of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The meeting took place in Khartoum and centered on strategies to enhance peace and development efforts in Sudan.



According to Sudan News Agency, Vice President Agar highlighted the inseparable connection between peace and development, emphasizing that sustainable progress in Sudan requires a harmonious approach to both. He stressed that development cannot thrive in the absence of peace, and efforts must be synchronized to ensure that both objectives are achieved simultaneously.



The discussions also explored various mechanisms to mobilize humanitarian aid for Sudan to address pressing needs. Agar pointed out the critical importance of prioritizing humanitarian support to tackle the urgent challenges facing the nation.



Xu Haoliang’s visit to Sudan includes a series of engagements with government officials. He is also attending the inauguration ceremony of the new UNDP main office in Khartoum, marking a significant step in strengthening the organization’s presence and activities in the region.
