TSC Member Dr. Salma Affirms Women Role in Post-War Political Mobilization

Khartoum: Member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), Dr. Salma Abdel-Jabbar Al-Mubarak, affirmed the significant role played by women in leading peace initiatives and efforts of reconstruction and rehabilitation in war-affected communities, despite the major challenges they have faced from the terrorist Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia, particularly their use as a tool of war and their exposure to all forms of violations, including violence, displacement, deteriorating health services, and poverty.

According to Sudan News Agency, during her meeting on Monday in her office in Port Sudan with a delegation from the ‘Women for Peace and Justice Forum’ headed by Ibtisam Al-Sheikh, Dr. Salma stressed the need to create a conducive environment for peace, advance women’s rights, and empower them politically, economically, and socially, as well as the importance of their participation in political movements and decision-making processes.

For her part, Ibtisam Al-Sheikh explained that the delegation provided a briefing on the Forum’s efforts in raising women’s awareness, providing them with legal protection, and empowering them in all fields. She added that the Forum is adopting a comprehensive project to address women’s needs in the post-war period through a series of workshops on psychological and social support, rehabilitation and training, as well as small projects in the states of Khartoum and Al-Gezira.

She noted that TSC Member endorsed the importance of working to provide women with the necessary support and prepare them for psychological, economic, and social recovery to strengthen societal peace.
