Geneva: The Permanent Mission of Sudan to the United Nations in Geneva has submitted a strongly worded memorandum to the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, the President of the Human Rights Council, and the President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), condemning the brutal attack carried out by the Al-Daglo militia on Al-Arqam Shelter for the Displaced Persons (IDPs) in El-Fashir.
According to Sudan News Agency, the Mission enclosed with its memorandum a statement from the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, emphasizing that the continued perpetration of such crimes by the militia is a direct result of the international community’s silence over its previous atrocities.
The Sudan’s Permanent Mission to the UN in Geneva urged the international community, particularly the UN Security Council, the Human Rights Council, and the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), to move immediately beyond statements and condemnations and to take deterrent measures that would put an end to these violations of international law, international human rights law, and the relevant protocols of the 1949 Geneva Conventions.
