Sudanese Kidney Transplant Camp Achieves Success with International Collaboration

Khartoum:A kidney transplant camp at Ahmed Gasim Hospital successfully concluded after performing 14 kidney transplants in September and October 2026, involving doctors and specialists from Sudan and abroad.

According to Sudan News Agency, the camp was organized in collaboration with the Sudanese Doctors Association in Qatar and the Kuwaiti Patients Helping Fund. It was supported by federal and Khartoum state health authorities and the National Center for Kidney Diseases and Surgery.

Federal Health Minister Professor Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim commended the initiative, referring to it as a 'bridge of goodness.' He also announced plans to establish more kidney transplant centers and enhance the sustainability and availability of these services locally. Dr. Huda Hamid, the hospital director, noted that Ahmed Gasim Hospital has conducted a total of 43 kidney transplants so far.

Officials emphasized the significance of medical and humanitarian partnerships in strengthening Sudan's health sector and extending specialized services for patients suffering from kidney failure.
