Sudanese Government Committed to Peace Amid Regional Challenges

Washington:Adviser to the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Amjad Farid, participated in a high-level roundtable hosted by the Hudson Institute, where he discussed the security and political challenges facing Sudan and the region.

According to Sudan News Agency, Farid emphasized that while Sudan does not seek war with any party, it will not tolerate the use of violence or armed force to coerce the state or achieve political gains. He highlighted the government's readiness to engage in efforts to de-escalate tensions and address foreign interventions that contribute to regional instability.

Farid warned that the ongoing turmoil poses a threat not only to Sudan but also to the broader region's security and stability. He stated that the pursuit of peace does not conflict with the state's duty to protect its citizens and sovereignty. The Sudanese government, he affirmed, remains committed to safeguarding its people and institutions while exploring all serious avenues to end conflict and achieve stability.

He concluded by asserting that peace efforts should not reward violence or legitimize gains obtained through the use of force, underscoring the government's commitment to maintaining security and territorial integrity.
