Sudanese Foreign Minister Highlights Diplomacy as Key to National Stability

New York:Foreign Minister and International Cooperation Ambassador Mohi-Eddin Salem has emphasized that Sudanese diplomacy plays a crucial role in maintaining the country's unity and stability. He stated that current foreign policy efforts are directed at supporting the Armed Forces and their allies, safeguarding Sudan's security, and representing the nation's interests in regional and international platforms.

According to Sudan News Agency, Ambassador Mohi-Eddin described Sudan as engaged in an 'existential battle' that extends beyond the battlefield to include diplomatic efforts in international forums, bilateral relations, and economic challenges. He highlighted the multifaceted nature of threats facing Sudan and the importance of diplomatic engagement as a defense mechanism.

The Minister underlined that the country's foreign policy priorities are determined by societal needs and internal conditions, with a focus on aiding the Armed Forces in their protective role. He reiterated the significance of diplomacy as Sudan's first line of defense in global arenas.

Regarding Sudan's role in the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, Salem explained that extensive preparations are undertaken by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Sudanese diplomatic missions worldwide. The General Assembly offers a platform for engaging with international representatives, extending beyond formal sessions to include bilateral meetings and activities.

Salem noted that the summit was initially intended to be led at the presidential level, but changes were necessary after a visa denial affected the President's delegation. This situation transformed the participation into a diplomatic engagement, allowing Sudan to address international challenges and communicate its stance effectively.

He praised the delegation's efforts in New York, acknowledging their role in advocating for Sudan's interests and presenting its perspective to the global community.
