Sudan Takes Part in Annual IMF and World Bank Meetings in Washington with a High-Level Delegation

Washington: The annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group for 2025 commenced on Monday in Washington, D.C., and are scheduled to run from 13 to 18 October 2025.

According to Sudan News Agency, Sudan is participating with a high-level delegation led by State Minister at the Ministry of Finance, Mohamed Nour Abdel-Daem. The delegation includes the Undersecretary for Planning at the ministry, Mohamed Bashar, and Sudan’s Ambassador to Washington, Mohamed Abdallah Idris. Additionally, officials from the Ministry of Finance, the Central Bank of Sudan, and representatives from both the government and private sectors are part of the delegation.

The meetings focus on global efforts to support economic growth, address debt challenges, finance the transition to clean energy, promote sustainable development, and tackle issues facing global financial markets.

These annual gatherings bring together finance ministers, development ministers, central bank governors, parliamentarians, private sector representatives, civil society organizations, and academics to deliberate on global economic prospects, poverty eradication, economic development, and aid effectiveness.

The events also feature regional seminars, press conferences, media briefings, and various sessions that concentrate on the global economy, climate change, international development, and the global financial system.
