Khartoum:Sudan is committed to enhancing its economic relations with Saudi Arabia, aiming to elevate them to a strategic partnership that benefits both nations. This commitment was affirmed by the Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Dr. Gebreil Ibrahim, as he emphasized the historical and longstanding ties between the two countries.
According to Sudan News Agency, during the Economic Sector meeting of the Council of Ministers, Dr. Ibrahim outlined Sudan's efforts to develop a comprehensive vision for economic cooperation with Saudi Arabia. This vision includes focusing on clear priorities, feasible projects, and utilizing Sudan's resources and advantages to support economic recovery and reconstruction, while also expanding investment opportunities and successful partnerships.
The meeting, which included economic-sector ministers and the Governor of the Central Bank of Sudan, explored avenues for cooperation and investment in key sectors such as agriculture, livestock, energy, mining, infrastructure, and transport. Discussions also covered developing production chains, manufacturing, exports, and leveraging Sudan's strategic location in global trade.
Additionally, the importance of strengthening financial and banking sector cooperation was highlighted, aiming to improve coordination between the two central banks. This would facilitate trade and investment transactions, creating a conducive environment for expanding economic ties.
The Finance Minister stressed that future plans involve advancing Sudanese-Saudi economic relations towards more effective and sustainable partnerships, focusing on practical projects that engage both public and private sectors. This approach is intended to foster economic integration and support the developmental goals of both countries.
