Khartoum: State Minister for Finance Mohamed Nour Abdeldaim Ali met with Zuzana Brkseona, Director of Socio-economic Development at the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), to discuss Sudan's financial and economic reforms, sustainable development, and debt relief efforts.According to Sudan News Agency, Abdeldaim highlighted progress in financial and economic systems reform, as well as Sudan's financial reform programme, noting the country's transition from humanitarian assistance toward economic recovery. He briefed the UNECA official on Sudan's progress in implementing sustainable development goals, outlining the challenges and opportunities and discussing the support required to advance sustainable development.Abdeldaim also outlined the ministry's efforts to secure Sudan's debt relief under the Heavily Indebted Poor Countries (HIPC) Initiative, including a roadmap developed with the benefit of International Monetary Fund support, and discussed mechanisms for its implementation.For her part, Brkseona pledged full technical assistance in improving domestic revenue collection and tax policies, as well as support for policies aimed at curbing gold smuggling and strengthening the use of foreign currency in managing monetary and fiscal policy.
