Tripoli: Minister of Human Resources and Social Welfare Moatasem Ahmed Saleh met with Libya's Minister of Social Affairs Dr. Wafa Al-Kilani in Tripoli to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation in social protection and development. The talks focused on the coordination concerning Sudanese residents in Libya and voluntary return and reintegration programs. According to Sudan News Agency, the meeting emphasized the need to develop a social partnership between the two nations. Both parties agreed to establish direct focal points between the ministries and support efforts to create a unified social registry of Sudanese in Libya, focusing on vulnerable families and groups such as women, children, older persons, people with disabilities, and humanitarian cases. Dr. Wafa Al-Kilani welcomed the Sudanese ministry's participation in the Sudanese-Libyan Committee for Technical and Logistical Coordination and Voluntary Return. She highlighted the significance of collaborating with organizations and partners to ensu re the safe and dignified return of Sudanese and their reintegration into their communities. The ministers also agreed to expand institutional cooperation in areas such as social protection, poverty reduction, productive families, women's empowerment, and capacity building. They plan to share expertise and national strategies on social protection, child welfare, women's cooperatives, and productive families, while also coordinating positions at relevant regional and international forums and organizations. Additionally, the two sides agreed to host the Arab Forum on Family and Social Protection in the Context of Crises and Recovery in Khartoum in November 2027. The event, overseen by the Arab Family Organization and chaired by Dr. Wafa Al-Kilani, will serve as a platform for exchanging expertise and developing policies to support families and strengthen social protection systems, addressing the needs of families and communities affected by wars and crises. The meeting also covered a draft memorandum of unde rstanding proposed by Libya. The parties agreed to finalize its review and incorporate the agreed-upon terms, setting the stage for its future signing. Minister Mo'tasem Ahmed Saleh invited Dr. Wafa Al-Kilani to visit Sudan, which she readily accepted. The discussions marked a significant step towards forming a sustainable Sudanese-Libyan partnership in social protection and development, contributing to efforts toward recovery and stability and improving conditions for families and communities in both nations.
